The BBC’s June 10th story on the decline of fertility rates seems worrying. Are all developed nations now at less than 2.1 which is the replacement rate? I used Claude to analyze and visualize fertility rates in various developed countries.

Key Observations:
- Israel is unique – the only developed nation consistently above replacement level (2.1)
- South Korea has the world’s lowest fertility rate at 0.73 in 2024
- UK peaked at 2.65 in 1965, now at historic low of 1.44
- Sweden maintained relatively stable rates with comprehensive family policies
- Germany hit extremely low levels in the 1990s but has partially recovered
- Japan faces severe aging crisis with fertility at 1.20
- All countries except Israel are now well below replacement level
